20/20 by 20/20 Perfect Vision for the World

BVG is committed to making a difference for millions of people suffering with presbyopia, a progressive reduction in the eye's ability to focus, with consequent difficulty in reading at the normal distance, associated with aging. It typically starts at middle age, and is due to age-related loss of elasticity of the lens.

In the developing world, the rural poor often assume that near vision loss is inevitable and treatable only in ways they cannot afford. Most people are unaware that a simple, affordable product exists to restore their clear vision, and many assume that only expensive prescription glasses will solve their vision problems.

Across the developing world, eyeglasses are sold at significant margins by eye doctors and optical shops. A pair of custom eyeglasses costs anywhere from $40-60, a price truly out of the reach for those living on less than $4 a day.

In distributing reading glasses to locations around the world in India, Bangladesh, Guatemala, El Salvador, Ghana and African and making glasses available for approximately $4 a pair make eyeglasses into a basic consumer product. This mimics the same shift that occurred in the USA over 30 years ago, when reading glasses became over-the-counter product available in every corner drugstore.

BVG is committed to making a difference in the developing world by having those who cannot afford eyeglasses gain access to them and creating a positive economic position for thousands of people who provide eye exams and advise those in need of advance eye care to partner clinics.
